I was just backtracking through your posts and saw this one (out of pocket last week). Sam Bush wrote and recorded this song. It deals with the the grisly murder of a very popular Grand Ole Opry star and his wife. I saw "Bean" at the old Rhyman about '72-73. I was about eight or nine. My parents had an old VW pop-up camper and we stayed in the KOA which is still going just north of The Opryland Hotel. Anyhow a very haunting song. The surviving Brown "boy" was turned loose from prison just recently. I thought I'd never see the day, but in the strange times, anything is possible. Jeffery

Good to see you back! : ) I remember the story, but not the song...thanks for sharing. It is still talked about there.

Yes, it is still talked about there. I pass by Ridgetop (just north of Nashville) quite frequently. I've got a good friend who lives near Portland and he has been an avid follower of the plight of the Brown boys. Speaking of Stringbean, there are many videos on YouTube of him, Grandpa Jones, etc., from the early days to the "Hee Haw" days. Grandpa and String were best friends and fishing buddies. He is the one that found them dead. The Akemans' lived right across the road from Grandpa and Roma. A tragic story indeed.
